A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH COMMENDING MARIAN BERGESON
FOR HER OUTSTANDING LEGISLATIVE RECORD ON
ISSUES AFFECTING CITIES IN 1981
is
WHEREAS, since 1978 MARIAN BERGESON has served as
Assemblywoman to represent the 74th Assembly District which
includes the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, MARIAN BERGESON, Moth as a member of the State
Assembly and as a private citizen of the City of Newport Beach,
has demonstrated a genuine concern and commitment towards
enhancing and improving the quality of life in Newport Beach
through her voting record; and
WHEREAS, MARIAN BERGESON has worked energetically to
strengthen and promote effective local government through her
services as Assemblywoman for the 74th District and excellent
voting record overall; and
WHEREAS, the 1982 legislative session will, most
certainly, be a difficult one for cities, and MARIAN BERGESON's
outstanding voting record stands out immediately from all the
members of the California State Assembly for 1981, as a
consistent friend of local government; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
wishes to officially recognize MARIAN BERGESON'S commitment to
local government and the City of Newport Beach in particular, for
her legislative actions on the Upper Newport Bay "Early Action"
plan, Crystal Cove State Park, tax indexing and support for
quality education.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Newport
Beach, through its Council, takes great pleasure in honoring
MARIAN BERGESON for her outstanding leadership and support on
major issues affecting cities in general and the people of the
• City of Newport Beach in particular..
ADOPTED this 22nd day of February, 1982.
