HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-63 - July 4th Holiday Street Closure• RESOLUTION NO„ 82 -63 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF SEASHORE DRIVE DURING THE JULY 4TH HOLIDAY PERIOD, PURSUANT TO CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE SECTION 21100 AND 21101(e) WHEREAS, each year during the July 4th holiday period, huge throngs of visitors come to the beach area to join in the celebration and festivities; and WHEREAS, this large influx of persons coming to the beach causes extreme traffic congestion - especially along Seashore Drive, making it almost impossible for emergency vehicles to respond in this area; and WHEREAS, Section 21100 and 21101(e) of the California Vehicle Code enables cities to adopt resolutions regulating traffic and to temporarily close streets for the safety and protection of persons who are to use said streets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 21100, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby authorize the temporary closure of Seashore Drive, from 33rd Street to Orange Street, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., on July 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, 1982.
