A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH INCREASING THE
BASIC WATER QUANTITY RATE FROM $0.63 PER
100 CUBIC FEET TO $0.77 PER 100 CUBIC
FEET, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 1983 AND GIVING
0 NOTICE THEREOF TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES
. WHEREAS, Section 14.12.090 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides for an automatic water rate adjustment
based upon increases in the quantity charge from the Metropolitan
Water District; adjustments to be approved by Resolution of the
City Council; and
WHEREAS, it will be necessary for the City to pass the
Metropolitan Water District's rate increase on to the City's
water users to avoid loss of reserves; and

WHEREAS, on March 16, 1983 the Council Water Committee
recommended for approval an increase in the City's water rates,
based upon the Metropolitan Water District's rate increases,
effective July 1, 1983; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 14.12.090 of the Newport
Beach Municipal Code, the City water rates will be adjusted to
reflect the Metropolitan Water District's rate increases by
Resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 54990 et
seq of the Government Code of the State of California, the City
of Newport Beach has held at least one public meeting at which
oral or written presentations could have been made as a part of a
regularly scheduled meeting, and notice of the time and place of
the meeting, including a general explanation of the charges to be
considered, were mailed at least fourteen (14) days prior to the
meeting, to all interested parties who have filed written
requests with the City of Newport Beach for notice of prospective
action on new or increased fees or service charges, and the City
of Newport Beach has otherwise complied with the provisions of
Section 54992 of the Government Code insofar as other procedures
are mandated thereby; and
WHEREAS, in the event that water charges are increased,
as provided by this Resolution, the fees charged do not exceed
the estimated reasonable costs of providing the services for
which the fees are charged.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
. the City of Newport Beach that the basic water quantity rate be
increased from $0.63 per 100 cubic feet to $0.77 per 100 cubic
feet, effective July 1, 1983.
