• RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA STATE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO RETAIN ACCESS
RIGHTS TO PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY RE SALE OF
CALTRANS EAST PARCEL
WHEREAS, CalTrans East is a parcel of property owned by
the California State Department of Transportation, located
adjacent to Pacific Coast Highway between Superior Avenue and
Newport Blvd.; and
WHEREAS, Pacific Coast Highway is, at times, heavily
congested with automobile traffic; and
WHEREAS, The State Department of Transportation
proposes to sell the CalTrans East parcel; and
WHEREAS, if access is permitted directly onto Pacific
Coast Highway from the CalTrans East parcel, it would create
additional traffic congestion and unduly restrict the flow of
vehicles along the roadway;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the California State Department of
Transportation is hereby requested to retain access rights to
Pacific Coast Highway in conjuction with any sale of the CalTrans
East parcel.
