RESOLUTION NO. 83 -96
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING THE BASE, MILEAGE
AND STAND -BY RATES FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE WITHIN
THE CITY AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 9456
WHEREAS, a request for an increase in the rates
charged for ambulance service has been received by the
City Council of the City of Newport Beach and a study
has subsequently been conducted regarding the base,
mileage, emergency and stand-by-rates charged by the
ambulance services presently operating within the City;
and
WHEREAS, Section 5.14.150 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides that the City Council may, on
its own motion, hold a hearing at any time for the
purpose of determining whether previously approved
ambulance rate schedules should be changed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing
after giving notice thereof in accordance with the require-
ments of said Section 5.14.150 of the Newport Beach Municipal
Code, and has considered the testimony of all interested
parties and all relevant evidence presented at said public
hearing,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that the following changes
in the uniform ambulance rate schedule are hereby authorized:
• Base Rate . ..............................$ 75.00
Mileage 5.00 per mile or
fraction thereof
Night Calls ............................ 15.00
Oxygen ... ..... .. ........... 15.00

Expendable Medical Equipmen........... 20.00
Emergency ............................. 15.00
Waiting Time ........................... 15.00 per fifteen
minutes after the
first fifteen and
any fraction thereof

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council may
consider further rate increases :after a period of six (6)
months during which time other ambulance services may
apply for the necessary Certificate of Public Convenience
and Necessity to provide emergency service within the City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution 9456 is hereby
rescinded.
