AYES: Ameri, Brown, Hillgren, Lawler, Myers, and Tucker NOES: None ABSENT: Kramer ABSTAIN: Tucker STUDY SESSION: ITEM NO. 2 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS FACILITIES ORDINANCE UPDATE (PA2012 -057) Site Location: City -wide SUMMARY: An amendment to the Newport Beach Municipal Code ( "NBMC ") to update regulations regarding wireless telecommunication facilities ( "Telecom Facilities "). Regulations currently contained in Chapter 15.70 would be updated and relocated to Title 20 (Planning and Zoning) and Chapter 15.70 would be rescinded in its entirety. Principal Planner Jim Campbell presented seven regulations in the draft ordinance for which staff was requesting further direction from the Planning Commission. These included allowing telecommunication facilities in residential areas; a mandatory requirement for allowing collocation of facilities; protection of public views; maximum height limitations and processing procedures; review by City Council Staff Report October 22, 2013 Page 2 public safety departments in respect to emergency communications; provisions for modifying existing facilities; and the requirement to submit a radio frequency compliance report post installation. Members of the public also provided comments to the Planning Commission on the various draft regulations.
