HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-23 - Temporary Street ClosuresRESOLUTION NO. 96 -23_ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF: MAIN STREET FROM BALBOA BOULEVARD TO THE PAVILION, WASHINGTON STREET FROM EAST BAY AVENUE TO THE BAY, AND THE PUBLIC SIDEWALK ALONG THE BAYFRONT FROM • MAIN STREET TO PALM STREET. WHEREAS, the California Vehicle Code authorizes the City to adopt rules and regulations by ordinance or resolution regarding assemblages on and temporary closures of City streets; and WHEREAS, Chapter 10.08 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides that the City Council may adopt a resolution permitting the closure of a City street for the purpose of selling and displaying merchandise for the conduct of special events, provided a permit is issued by the City Manager pursuant to Chapter 5.10; and WHEREAS, a special event permit has been issued to the 552 Club - Hoag Hospital Foundation to conduct the second annual Back to Bal Carnival in the Fun Zone area from 5:30 to 10:00 P.M. NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Newport Beach resolves as follows: 1. The 552 Club - Hoag Hospital Foundation shall be permitted to display and sell merchandise at events which include the closure of Main Street from Balboa Boulevard to the Pavilion, Washington Street from East Bay Avenue to the bay, and the public sidewalk along the bay-front from Main Street to Palm Street on Thursday, March 28, 1996 between the hours of 5:30 and 10:00 P.M.
