A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE SALARIES
FOR MANAGEMENT AND OTHER KEY EMPLOYEES
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1996 -97, AMENDING CITY'S
CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN TO
REFLECT SAID CHANGES, AND RESCINDING
RESOLUTION NO. 91 -78.
• WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach has the Authority,
under Newport Beach City Charter, to establish salaries for employees; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended certain salary adjustments for
Department Directors and for management and other key employees; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that he City Council of the City of
Newport Beach hereby establishes, effective July 1, 1996, the salaries for department directors,
management and other key personnel employees shall be as shown on Exhibit "A ", attached
hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in addition to the salary adjustments reflected
on the schedule attached as Exhibit "A ", City shall pay to the Public Employees Retirement
System (PERS) seven percent (7 %) of the Miscellaneous Members, or nine percent (9 %) of the
Safety Members employees' contribution to PERS. This retirement contribution shall be credited
to each employee's individual account with PERS; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City's Classification and Compensation
Plan shall be amended to reflect these changes; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 91 -78 shall be rescinded at
such time as the salaries reflected in this Resolution become effective.
