HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-61 - Historical Interest-Balboa TheaterRESOLUTION NO. 96-61 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DESIGNATING THE BALBOA THEATER AT 707 EAST BALBOA BOULEVARD AS A PLACE OF HISTORICAL INTEREST is WHEREAS, the Balboa Theater was constructed in 1927 and will be the oldest operating theater in Orange County when it reopens; and WHEREAS, the Balboa Theater has played a significant part in the social and cultural history of the City of Newport Beach; and WHEREAS, the history of the Balboa Theater warrants its designation as a Local Historical Site under the classification system established by City Council policy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby designate the Balboa Theater as a Local Historic Site and directs the City Clerk to place the property in the Register of Historical Property.
