A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
CHANGING THE NAME OF THE HARBOR QUALITY
CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has a Harbor Quality Citizens Advisory
Committee ( HQCAC) that was established in 1986; and
WHEREAS, HQCAC has addressed issues of importance to water quality since that
time, including pump -a -heads in Newport Harbor, Upper and Lower Newport Bay
Dredging, water quality testing efforts, educational programs, and prohibitions against
duck feeding; and
WHEREAS, HQAC has increasingly been interested in and recommended Council
positions on issues outside of Newport Harbor, including ocean water testing, Buck Gully
improvements, and the Orange County Sanitation District's ocean outfall; and
WHEREAS, on January 10, 2002, HQCAC unanimously recommended that the City
Council agree to change the Committee's name to the Coastal/Bay Water Quality Citizens
Advisory Committee and to modify slightly its mission and responsibilities; now, therefore
be it
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the Council
hereby recognizes an expanded mission and responsibilities for the Harbor Quality
Citizens Advisory Committee and hereby changes the name of the Harbor Quality
Citizens Advisory Committee to the Coastal/Bay Water Quality Citizens Advisory
Committee.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of January, 2002.

resolution, being Resolution No. 2002 -9 was duly and regularly introduced before and adopted by the
City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 22nd
day of January, 2002, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote, to wit:
Ayes: Heffernan, O'Neil, Bromberg, Glover, Adams, Proctor, Mayor Ridgeway
Noes: None
Absent: None
Abstain: None
