HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-77 - Integrated Law & Justice Agency for Orange CountyRESOLUTION NO.2002- 77 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR THE INTEGRATED LAW AND JUSTICE AGENCY FOR ORANGE COUNTY WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to cooperate with other public agencies to exercise some or all of their powers to establish, operate, and maintain the Integrated Law and Justice Agency for Orange County ( "ILJAOC"), consistent with the Joint Powers Agreement ( "JPA ") dated 2002; and WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has and possesses the power and authority to finance, organize, participate, and establish a public agency to facilitate the integration and sharing of criminal justice information for the benefit of the lands and inhabitance within their respective boundaries; and WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach and other public agencies propose to join together to establish, operate and maintain a public agency for the benefit of their respective lands and inhabitance; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to provide a means by which other public agencies may request services for the benefit of their lands and inhabitance; and WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has the authority to finance, organize, and participate in a public agency such as the ( "ILJAOC") pursuant to California Government Code Section 6500 et seq. -1- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to take the necessary steps consistent with the ( "JPA ") for the ( "ILJAOC") to effectuate the organization and establishment of the ( "JPA ") for the ( "ILJAOC").
