• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF A
COUNTY -WIDE FIRE /RADIO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

WHEREAS, the Orange County Communications Department
has proposed the implementation of a County -wide fire radio
system; and
WHEREAS, the system will allow a more prompt response
to fires and emergency situations by the Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, it is proposed that the City's estimated share
for implementing this radio system is $173,200.00; and
WHEREAS, implementation of this system will, in all
events, require the approval of all cities within the County of
Oange; and
WHEREAS, this proposed system will eliminate technical,
as well as overloading problems in the present system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby supports the implementation of a
County -wide fire communications radio system; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council directs
that a copy of this Reolution of City's intent be forwarded to
the Orange County General Services office no later than March 31,
1984.
