A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN
THE "TURN -ON" CHARGE FOR WATER SERVICE
PURSUANT TO SECTION 14.12.150 OF THE NEWPORT
• BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, Section 14.12.150 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code authorizes the City Council to establish, by
resolution, turn -on charges for water service which has been
turned off for the specified reasons contained within that
section; and
WHEREAS, the current charge for turn -on service is
$15.00, which fairly and reasonably approximates the
administrative cost to the City for such service; and
WHEREAS, from time -to -time, emergency situations arise
requiring water service turn -on during hours which are not normal
business /work -day hours, thereby causing the City to incur
greater expense in providing such service; and
WHEREAS, staff has determined that $15.00 continues to
be appropriate to charge $15.00 for the normal turn -on service,
during normal work hours, but that for after normal work day
hours, the charge fairly and reasonably should be increased to
$30.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that pursuant to Section 14.12.150 of
the Newport Beach Municipal Code, the turn -on charge for water
service that requires a City of Newport Beach employee to perform
said service after normal business hours, shall be $30.00.
