A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT
TO AWARD AN INFORMAL CONTRACT EXCEEDING $12,000
TO PURCHASE MATERIALS FOR THE RIVERSIDE DRIVE

WHEREAS, Section 1110 of the Charter of the City of Newport
Beach provides for a formal bid process for the purchase of materials
which cost in excess of $12,000; and
WHEREAS, Section 1110 of the Charter also provides that
after the adoption of a resolution receiving at least five affirmative
votes of the City Council, materials may be purchased on the open
market if estimates approved by the City Manager show it can be done
more economically; and
WHEREAS, estimates submitted to the City Manager indicate
that it is more economical to purchase Riverside Drive storm drain pipe
and appurtenances to be installed in the John Dominis Building on the
open market through an informal sealed bid procedure administered by
the Purchasing Agent;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach declares and determines that based on estimates
approved by the City Manager, materials for the Riverside Drive storm
drain bypass may be purchased on the open market and authorizes the
Purchasing Agent to award an informal contract exceeding $12,000 to
purchase said materials.
