A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING ITS :INTENT TO PROVIDE
MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL COASTAL
MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the cities of Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, San
Clemente and Huntington Beach have jointly submitted a pre - application
for a,grant from the Local Government Coastal Management Improvement
• Program for consulting work regarding OCS Lease Sale 95; and
WHEREAS, such pre - application has been qualified by the

Secretary of Environmental Affairs for submittal as a draft applica-
tion; and
WHEREAS, applicable regulations governing such draft
application require inclusion of a letter of commitment for match-
ing funds; and
WHEREAS, the cities' grant request totals $168,000 and
the cities' matching funds would total $34,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach's share would amount
to $8,500; and
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Environmental Affairs will render
a decision regarding the acceptability of the cities' grant request
in May, 1987.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
the City of Newport Beach hereby declares its intention to provide
such matching funds in the 1987 -88 Fiscal Year Budget if the City
is awarded its grant requests by the Secretary of Environmental
Affairs provided, however, that budgetary requirements and constraints
reasonably allow the City Council to do so.
