A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL
AD HOC AIRPORT COMMITTEE
• WHEREAS, the City Council - Citizens Aviation Committee
is principally responsible for advising the City Council on
matters relating to air transportation in and around Orange
County; and
WHEREAS, from time to time, issues arise relative to the
proposed expansion of John Wayne Airport and the now ongoing
study of the feasibility of a second airport site in Orange
County, that require immediate attention and cannot properly be
reviewed at a regular meeting of the Aviation Committee; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to create a City Council Ad
Hoc Airport Committee to review these matters with staff and
thereafter advise the Aviation Committee and /or City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach, the City Council Ad Hoc Airport
Committee is hereby created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the functions and
duties of the Committee shall be as follows:
1. The Committee shall consist of three (3)
Councilmembers appointed by the Mayor.
• 2. The Committee shall function as advisor to the
City Council and /or Aviation Committee on those matters which the
Aviation Committee cannot properly review.

3. The Committee shall sunset December 31, 1988,
unless the term is extended by the City Council prior to that
date.
ADOPTED this 13th day of April, 1987.
