HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-73 - Special Municipal Election 11-3-87RESOLUTION NO. 87 -73 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO FILE A WRITTEN ARGUMENT IN SUPPORT OF A CITY MEASURE PERTAINING TO THE LEASE OF RESIDENTIAL PARCELS IN BEACON BAY. • WHEREAS, the City Council, concurrently with the approval of this Resolution, has called a special election to consider a measure relating to the Council's authority to enter into ground leases of residentially- developed parcels in Beacon Bay; WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Newport Beach City Charter and state law, the City Council is authorized to empower one or more of its members to file a written argument for or against any City measure; WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is appropriate for the Mayor to file a written argument for the ballot measure pertaining to the lease of residential parcels in Beacon Bay. NOW, THEREFORE, the CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That the City Council authorizes Mayor, John Cox, to prepare, sign, and file a written argument, including any rebuttal argument necessary, in favor of the adoption of the measure pertaining to the lease of residentially - developed parcels in Beacon Bay, a. matter to be submitted to the voters at a special municipal election to be held on November 3, • 1987. Section 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the -1- passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
