HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-129 - Street Side Parking on Pacific Coast HighwayRESOLUTION NO. 87 -129 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AFFIRMING ITS CURRENT POLICY TO OPPOSE REMOVAL OF STREET SIDE PARKING ON • PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY I:N CORONA DEL MAR (BETWEEN MAC ARTHUR AND THE EASTERLY CITY LIMITS) WHEREAS, the Circulation :Element of the Newport Beach General Plan designates Pacific Coast Highway, from MacArthur to the easterly City limits, as a "primary road (four line divided);" and WHEREAS, the City Council has, in its actions on various projects, assumed that Pacific Coast Highway through Corona del Mar, will remain a four lane divided road as specified in the Circulation Element; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of street side parking to the small businesses that border Pacific Coast Highway in Corona del Mar, given the relatively small number of off - street public parking lots available to customers of those businesses; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to reaffirm its current policy to oppose removal, by Cal- Trans, of the street side parking on Pacific Coast Highway. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council hereby resolves that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach is opposed to removal of any street side parking on Pacific Coast Highway between MacArthur and the easterly city limits. ADOPTED this 27th day of July, 1987. i •
