HomeMy WebLinkAbout88-4 - Ad Hoc General Plan Outreach CommitteeRESOLUTION NO.. 88- 4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY C OUNC I L OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CREATING THE CITY COUNCIL AD HOC GENERAL PLAN OUTREACH COMMITTEE. WHEREAS, in February, 1987, the City Council of the City • of Newport Beach initiated amendments to the Land Use and Circulation Element to insure those two documents are in compliance with provisions of state law and OPR Guidelines; and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of obtaining widespread community input relative to the contents of the Land Use and Circulation Elements; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that one way of obtaining community input is to establish a City Council Ad Hoc Committee which would meet with homeowner association representatives and others, to explain the goals of the General Plan Amendment process and receive suggestions on the proper content of these important planning documents. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby resolve that the City Council Ad Hoc General Plan Outreach Committee is hereby established for the purpose of receiving suggestions and comments on proposed amendments to the Land Use and Circulation Elements of the City of Newport Beach. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Committee shall have the following responsibilities and characteristics: 1. The Committee shall consist of the Mayor, one permanent member of the City Council appointed by the Mayor, and i a third member of the City Council to be designated by the Mayor depending upon the area represented by the homeowners' -1- • association invited to attend; 2. The Committee shall be staffed by the Planning Department, with assistance from the City Attorney's office as appropriate; 3. The duties of the Committee shall be as follows: (A) The Committee shall meet with representatives of each homeowners' association within the City to explain the proposed amendments to the Land Use and Circulation Elements and receive comments and suggestions regarding the contents of the two elements; (B) The comments and suggestions shall be recorded by the Planning staff and considered in drafting the proposed amendments prior to environmental review and submittal to the Planning Commission for public hearings. 4. The term of the Committee shall expire on April 30, 1988, or whenever all associations have been contacted, whichever is earlier. ADOPTED this 11th day of January, 1988. -2-
