A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH OPPOSING
IMPROVEMENT TO SEWER MAINS UNDER PACIFIC
COAST HIGHWAY IN CORONA DEL MAR PRIOR TO
THE COMPLETION OF PELICAN HILL ROAD.
WHEREAS, the Sanitation Districts of Orange County own,
• maintain and operate trunk sewer maims located under Pacific Coast
Highway in Corona del Mar; and
WHEREAS, the Sanitation Districts of Orange County desire
to install additional trunk sewer mains under Pacific Coast
Highway in Corona del Mar to handle anticipated waste water flows
caused by the anticipated development of the down coast area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
supports the planned improvement to the sewer system but is
concerned about the effect on traffic since the improvement will
significantly impact Pacific Coast Highway; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is opposed to commencement of
any portion of the improvements to the sewer main under Pacific
Coast Highway in Corona del Mar prior to the completion of at
least four (4) travel lanes of Pelican Hill Road between Pacific
Coast Highway and Bonita Canyon Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach is opposed to any portion of the
improvements to the sewer main under Pacific Coast Highway in
Corona del Mar unless and until four (4) lanes of Pelican Hill
Road have been constructed from Pacific Coast Highway to Bonita
Canyon Road.
