A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING
APPROVAL OF THE FINAL DRAFT 1989 ORANGE
COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN.
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of
Newport Beach by the Orange County Board of Supervisors, the Final
Draft 1989 Orange County Solid Waste Management Plan for approval;
and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that the Plan is the result of a
comprehensive review and revision process that involved input from
multijurisdictional public agencies, private industry and the
public; and
WHEREAS, the need for the Plan was determined after an
evaluation was made of the changes that occurred in the County
overall waste management system since the previous plan was
approved in 1985; and
WHEREAS, the Plan ensures the adequate handling and
disposal of waste, the acquisition of future landfill sites,
resource recovery and the operations of refuse transfer stations
including a City Transfer Station; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach has
reviewed the contents of the Plan, which include the objectives,
method for implementation, procedures for financing, and the role
identified for the City, and finds the Plan to be in the best
interests of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that the Final Draft 1989 Orange County
Solid Waste Management Plan, as described above, is hereby
approved in its entirety.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby authorized and directed to convey a copy of this Resolution
• to the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
