HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-78 - Emergency Preparedness Citizens Advisory Committee• RESOLUTION NO. 89 -78 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CREATING THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is now in the process of updating its Emergency Operations Plan; and WHEREAS, public or citizen preparedness is part of the City's preparedness plan; and WHEREAS, a citizens committee could give valuable input to the City's staff in finalizing the City's Emergency Operations Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a Citizens Advisory Committee for emergency preparedness is hereby created and given the following characteristics: 1. The Committee shall consist of fourteen (14) people, with two appointees from each member of the City Council. 2. The Committee shall be sunsetted on January 1, 1991 unless extended by the City Council. 3. The Committee shall meet on a monthly basis or when needed. 4. The Committee shall select their own officers. 5. The duties and authorit:ies.of the Committee shall be: A. Advise the City Council on the City's Emergency Operations Plan. B. Assist the staff in the development of educa- tional programs for the public concerning the City's Emergency Operations Plan. C. Assist in developing a plan to involve citizens and homeowners associations in personal and family preparedness needs. ATTEST: CITY CLERK ADOPTED this 10th day of , fuly. 1989. � � 1 1
