A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CANVASS THE RETURNS OF
THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 7, 1989 WHICH IS TO BE CONSOLIDATED WITH
THE STATEWIDE SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION TO BE HELD
• ON THE SAME DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach has
called and given notice of a special municipal election to be held
on November 7, 1989; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach has
requested the Board of Supervisors consolidate the special
municipal election with the general statewide school district
election to be held on the same date; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that the Registrar of Voters,
County of Orange canvass the returns of the special municipal
election and the statewide election.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach does hereby resolve, determine and order as follows:
1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section
23306 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes the Board
of Supervisors to canvass the returns of the special municipal
election to be held on November 7, 1989, which will be
consolidated with the statewide school district election to be
held on the same date.
2. That the Board of Supervisors is hereby
requested to issue instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take
any and all steps necessary for the holding of the consolidated
election and the canvass of returns.

3. That the City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach
is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution
with the Board of Supervisors and Registrar of Voters of the
County of Orange.
