HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-114 - Fees for Videotape ReproductionRESOLUTION NO. 89 -114 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE FEES FOR VIDEOTAPE • REPRODUCTIONS. WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has expended large sums of money in acquiring the equipment, and hiring personnel, necessary to film the scene of traffic accidents and other incidents involving personal injury or property damage; WHEREAS, the value of videotape production and reproduction equipment owned by the City is approximately $250,000; WHEREAS, the City routinely receives requests from persons involved in traffic collisions and similar incidents for copies of videotape depicting the accident scene, WHEREAS, the cost to the City of reproducing these videotapes is approximately $160.00 based on the value of the cassette, time spent by personnel in videotaping the scene and reproducing the cassette, and amortization of the value of the equipment involved in producing and reproducing the videotape; WHEREAS, a private firm would charge $200 to $250 to reproduce a videotape of an accident or incident scene. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the •City of Newport Beach finds that the current cost to the City of producing and reproducing videotapes of accident or incident scenes equals or exceeds $160.00; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the fee for a Police Department produced videotape of an accident or incident scene shall be $160.00 per cassette.
