HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-6 - Arterial Highway Financing Program - Balboa BoulevardRESOLUTION NO. 91 -6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN 1991 -92 ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE IMPROVEMENT OF BALBOA BOULEVARD, 23RD STREET TO 32ND STREET WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to improve • Balboa Boulevard between 23rd Street and 32nd Street, and WHEREAS, the Balboa Boulevard is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general County interest, and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement, Construction, or repair of a street within a City, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the County Road budget for the Fiscal Year 1991 -92 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County Funds the amount of $210,600, said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of Balboa Boulevard between 23rd Street and 32nd Street said improvements to be in accordance with the attached project statement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said improvements on Balboa Boulevard, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Newport Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial • Highway Financing Program and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights -of -way will be available for the fiscal year 1991 -92.
