HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-65 - Fire Permit & Inspection Fee ScheduleRESOLUTION NO. 91 -65 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A REVISED PERMIT AND INSPECTION FEE SCHEDULE FOR SERVICES PERFORMED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN ADMINISTERING PROVISIONS OF STATE LAW AND THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE TO BECOME • EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 1991 AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 90 -65. WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Fire Department is required to issue permits, conduct inspections, review building plans, review hazardous materials response plans and perform other services pursuant to state law and the Newport Beach Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Municipal Code, Uniform Fire Code and various provisions of state law all authorize the City Council to adopt, by ordinance or resolution, a schedule of fees to be charged for services performed by Fire Department employees; and WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Fire Department has conducted an extensive study of the time necessary to perform plan reviews, inspections and related services, as well as the cost to the City in compensating the employee for the time necessary to perform those tasks; and WHEREAS, the Fire Department Plan Review, Permit and Inspection Fee Schedule, which is attached to this Resolution as Exhibit "A ", represents the results of the study and the fees called for by the Schedule are at a level which pays only the necessary and reasonable costs incurred by the City of Newport Beach in providing these services; and • WHEREAS, with respect to the schedule of fees for services performed in conjunction with the administration of laws pertaining to hazardous materials response plans, the fees take into account the volume and degree of hazardous potential of the hazardous materials handled by businesses subject to the provisions of 0C Chapter 6.95 of Division 20 of the Health & Safety Code of the State of California. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council adopts the Newport Beach Fire Department Permit and Inspection Fee • Schedule attached to this Resolution as Exhibit "A." • ADOPTED this 24th day of June, 1991.
