A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF APRIL 5-11,1992, AS NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK,
AND WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 1992, AS CITY LIBRARY DAY
• WHEREAS, the nation is acknowledging the significance of libraries
as cultural, educational and recreational resource centers through its
celebration of National Library Week, April 5 -11, 1992, and
WHEREAS, the theme of the national celebration, YOUR RIGHT
TO KNOW: YOUR LIBRARY MAKES IT HAPPEN has been an integral
part of the operating philosophy of the Newport Beach Public library; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Public Library has contributed
significantly to the quality of life and vitality of the Qty of Newport Beach;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is justifiably proud of the
public libraries serving the needs of all citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach hereby proclaim the week of April 5 -11, 1992, as
National Library Week, and Wednesday, April 8, 1992, as City Library Day
in the City of Newport Beach. In so doing we urge the members of our
community to'recognize the central role which libraries provide in improving
the quality of life in our community.
