RESOLUTION NO. 92-59
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH MODIFYING THE CHARGES LEVIED
BY OTHER AGENCIES FOR WATER SERVICES AND
REQUIRING THOSE CHARGES TO BE DESIGNATED AS A
SEPARATE ITEM ON THE UTILITY BILLS.
WHEREAS, a number of public agencies impose charges ( "Other
Agency Charges ") based upon the City's supply and sale of water to
its citizens; and
WHEREAS, these Other Agency Charges include a Coastal
Municipal Water District Surcharge for standby charges on service
connections, a State Department of Health Services Surcharge for
funding its Office of Drinking Water, a charge by the Orange County
Department of Health to fund its backflow program, and the
Metropolitan Water District Standby Service Charge; and
WHEREAS, for the fiscal year 1992 -93, the Other Agency Charges
total $285,987.00 or a monthly charge per water service connection
of $0.97; and
WHEREAS, Other Agency Charges should be shown as a separate
item on the utility bills since these charges are not imposed by
the City of Newport Beach, the charges are required to be paid by
law, and the City does not share in or receive a portion of the
Other Agency Charges.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach as follows:
1. A monthly charge of $0.97 shall be imposed for each water
service connection and the charge shall be designated as a separate
item on the Utility Bill under the heading "Other Agency Charges."

2. Any provision of a prior resolution contrary to Section
1 is hereby rescinded and repealed.
