HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-127 - Fee for Juvenile Traffic Safety Classess• NO. 92 -127 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A FEE FOR ATTENDANCE AT NEWPORT BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT JUVENILE TRAFFIC SAFETY CLASSES. WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Police Department conducts monthly juvenile traffic safety classes for Newport Beach citizens and other persons under the age of 18. The traffic safety classes provide instruction on safe operation of bicycles and riding of skateboards on City streets and highways. WHEREAS, attendees of the traffic safety classes include juveniles who have been referred to attend a traffic safety class by the Orange County Municipal Court or, have received two or more bicycle or skateboard citations within one year; WHEREAS, it has been established that $25.00 per juvenile represents the reasonable cost to the City of Newport Beach to provide the traffic safety classes. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby resolves that a fee of $25.00 per person under the age of eighteen (18) shall be charged for attendance at the monthly Newport Beach Police Department traffic safety classes.
