A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH DESIGNATING THE LAS ARENAS
PARK ADJACENT TO THE AMERICAN LEGION FACILITY
AS AN AREA DESIGNATED FOR OVERFLOW PARKING
WHEREAS, Chapter 11.04, Section 11.04.020(b) prohibits anyone
• from parking any vehicle on City parks except in areas designated
for such purposes; and

WHEREAS, the Las Arenas Park is located adjacent to the
American Legion facility. The Amercican Legion desires to use the
park as a location for overflow parking during certain American
Legion events; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the use of Las Arenas
Park for overflow parking for American Legion events.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council, of the
City of Newport Beach, the Las Arenas Park is hereby dedicated for
the parking of automobiles, a maximum of twelve (12) times per
year, subject to prior approval by the Director of the Parks, Beach
and Recreation Department. Approval shall be obtained in advance
and shall include a requirement that all irrigation heads are
covered with protective traffic cones and that attendants direct
traffic to assure orderly parking of vehicles. Any approval by the
Director of Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department for parking
for American Legion events shall be cancelled and prohibited on all
occasions when there is rain within three (3) days before or during
a scheduled event.
