A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING THE ANNEXATION OF SANTA
ANA HEIGHTS TO THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH.
WHEREAS, a portion of the unincorporated area of the County of Orange
known as Santa Ana Heights and depicted on Exhibit A attached hereto is completely
• surrounded by the corporate limits of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, this area of Santa Ana Heights is within the Sphere of Influence of
the City of Newport Beach as established by the Local Agency Formation Commission
of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has adopted a General Plan and a
Specific Area Plan for this area of Santa Ana Heights; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed an evaluation of the annexation of
Santa Ana Heights to the City of Newport Beach prepared in accordance with City
Council Policy C -1; and
WHEREAS, the evaluation reveals that such annexation may result in
operating and capital costs to the City which exceed the revenues to the City.
WHEREAS, residents of this area of Santa Ana Heights have expressed their
support for annexation,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Newport
Beach expresses its support for annexation of that area depicted on Exhibit A to the
City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council supports a change in the
mailing address of only that area depicted on Exhibit A to a Newport Beach mailing
address, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council's support for the
annexation of the area depicted on Exhibit A is contingent upon the monetary costs
associated with annexation not exceeding the revenues generated from such
annexation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is directed to
commence negotiations and processing with appropriate persons and agencies to
annex the area depicted on Exhibit A to the City of Newport Beach consistent with the
intentions of the City Council as expressed in this resolution.
ADOPTED this 14th date of December 1992.
