A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach Authorizing
Membership in the Orange County Vehicle Task Force.
Whereas, the problems surrounding automobile theft and car jacking are increasing in
California; and
Whereas, the Orange County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 93 -54,
pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 9250.14 to establish an Orange County
Vehicle Theft Task Force and funding to impact the increasing incidence of auto theft;
and
Whereas, the City of Newport Beach has pledged its support to work with the County
of Orange, District Attorney's Office, Sheriff's Department, eight other cities aztd
various State and Federal Agencies to help address this problem.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, that
after reviewing the Orange County Vehicle Task Force Progress Report and FY 1993 -94
Proposed Task Force Budget the Newport Beach Police Department is hereby
authorized to:
1. Participate as a member in the Orange County Vehicle Theft Task Force
membership and to represent this city in respect to the Task Force activities; and
2. Apply for reimbursement on behalf of the City from the Orange County
Vehicle Task Force Fund in accordance and compliance with the County of Orange
accepted accounting procedures, and as referenced in the Orange County Vehicle Theft
Task Force Progress Report.
Adopted, this 28th day of June 1993.
