A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
PROCLAIMING SUPPORT FOR THE ORANGE
COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL.
• WHEREAS, the County of Orange is home to over 2.5 million residents, and;

WHEREAS, the arts collectively are a $336 million industry, which serve 2.1
million residents annually and 38 million tourists, and;
WHEREAS, the arts are one of the major services in the county's tourism
industry, and;
WHEREAS, Orange County has no established county wide arts service
organization, and;
WHEREAS, the Orange County Arts Council will be established to serve to
promote the arts, arts education and cultural tourism, provide cooperative marketing
opportunities and serve as a liaison for city arts organizations, and;
WHEREAS, the arts organizations and citizens of Newport Beach will be
served directly by the Orange County Arts Council, and;
Now, therefore, I, Clarence J. Turner, Mayor of the City of Newport Beach, on
behalf of the entire Newport Beach City Council, do hereby proclaim our support for
the Orange County Arts Council, and encourage the Supervisors of the County of
Orange to designate the Council as the County's partner arts agency
