HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-75 - Parking Restrictions for Certain Vehicles• • NO. 94- 75 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH PROHIBITING CERTAIN VEHICLES FROM PARKING WITHIN 100 FEET OF DESIGNATED INTERSECTIONS. The City Council of the City of Newport Beach resolves: WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code §22507 authorizes local authorities to prohibit or restrict, parking, or standing of vehicles which are 6 feet or more in height, within 100 feet of any designated intersection during all or certain hours of the day; and WHEREAS, Newport Beach Municipal Code §12.40.160 authorizes the City Traffic Engineer to sign or mark appropriate places, prohibiting the stopping, standing or parking of vehicles in such places when he determines that it is necessary in order to eliminate unusual traffic hazards; and WHEREAS, the City Traffic Engineer is recommending the establishment of prohibited parking of vehicles which are six feet or more in height, within 100 feet of certain intersections to improve visibility and traffic safety; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach: 1. The City Traffic Engineer is authorized to prohibit the stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles which are six feet or more in height, within 100 feet of any intersection in the City of Newport Beach, when such prohibition is necessary to improve visibility and /or traffic safety. 2. The City Traffic Engineer shall install signs to indicate this prohibition upon each street so designated. ADOPTED, this 8th day of ATT a r CITY CLERK MAYOR , 1994. wNresol/perking.res
