A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
SUPPORTING THE SUBMITTAL OF THE IRVINE AVENUE WIDENING PROJECT,
UNIVERSITY DRIVE TO BRISTOL STREET SOUTH, TO THE ORANGE COUNTY
TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY FOR FUNDING UNDER THE COMBINED
TRANSPORTATION FUNDING PROGRAM AND REGIONAL SURFACE
• TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE, DETERMINES, AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City supports regional coordination of
transportation improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City supports the widening of Irvine Avenue,
University Drive to Bristol Street South from four to six through lanes in
accordance with the City and County Master Plans of Arterial Highways; and
WHEREAS, various portions of the proposed project lie within the
boundaries of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City intends to enter into an agreement to
cooperatively design and construct said improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority intends to
allocate funds for transportation improvement projects within the
incorporated cities and the County;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
hereby endorses submittal of grant applications by the County of Orange to
the Orange County Transportation Authority for the widening of Irvine
Avenue, University Drive to Bristol Street South.
