A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING THE STATEWIDE
"BIKE TO WORK" DAY AND DESIGNATING MAY 4,
1995 AS 'BIKE -TO- WORK" DAY IN THE CITY OF
• NEWPORT BEACH
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH HEREBY
RESOLVES, DETERMINES, AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
THAT, WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to promote
bicycling as a means of transportation and recreation;
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to reduce traffic congestion
and air pollution;
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach encourages activities and lifestyles
which promote the health of its citizens;
WHEREAS, the Orange County Bicycle Coalition in association with the
California Bicycle Coalition is proposing a statewide coordinated Bike -to -Work Day on
May 4,1995;
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach supports a statewide coordinated
effort to promote bicycle commuting;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
hereby declares May 4,1995 as "Bike -to- Work" Day within the City of Newport Beach in
conjunction with the statewide coordinated event by the California Bicycle Coalition
and the Orange County Bicycle Coalition.
