HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-121 - Prohibiting Parking [Rescinded 2012-61]RESOLUTION NO. 95 -121 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH PROHIBITING PARKING ON THE NORTHERLY SIDE OF BALBOA BOULEVARD BETWEEN 15TH STREET AND 19TH STREET AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 88-55. WHEREAS, it is necessary during peak traffic flows to have three • westbound traffic lanes for vehicles exiting the peninsula; and • WHEREAS, in order to ensure that this additional traffic lane is available for use it is necessary to tow vehicles that are illegally parked. WHEREAS, Section 12.44.150 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach shall, by resolution, designate streets or portions of streets on which the parking or standing of vehicles is to be prohibited and shall designate in the resolution the days of the week and the exact hours during which such prohibition shall be in effect; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is reasonable and in the public interest to establish tow -away parking restrictions on the northerly side of Balboa Boulevard, between 15th Street and 19th Street, between 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. on Saturdays and Sundays, between May 15 and September 15, Memorial Day July 4th, and Labor Day. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that parking of vehicles shall be prohibited between 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. on Saturdays and Sundays, between May 15 and September 15, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day on the northerly side of Balboa Boulevard between 15th Street and 19th Street; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Traffic Engineer is authorized and directed to appropriately sign or mark said area to indicate such parking prohibition; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Resolution No 88 -55 is hereby rescinded.
