A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH MODIFYING VARIOUS RESOLUTIONS TO
AMEND THE DUTIES OF TWO CITY COMMITTEES
WHEREAS the City Council adopted Resolutions 94 -110 and 94 -112
on December 12, 1994; and
• WHEREAS Resolutions 94 -110 and 94 -112 were Resolutions which
implemented the realignment and reassignment of the duties of the various City
Council Committees; and
WHEREAS Resolution 94 -110 which outlines the duties and
responsibilities of the Finance Committee includes annexation issues as a
primary duty and responsibility; and
WHEREAS the Legislative Committee has recently met and requested
that the City Council consider realigning the duties and responsibilities of the
Legislative Committee to include the issue of annexation; and
WHEREAS following the realignment of the Council Committees the
work of the Finance Committee has been found to be very lengthy and time -
consuming; and
WHEREAS the Legislative Committee in its work program with the
County, State and other regional bodies will be working on the topic and issues
related to annexation; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that the
duties of the Finance Committee related to annexation issues shall be the
responsibility of the Legislative Committee. The duties shall be to:
Review the activities of staff pursuant to the City Council Annexation
Policy and make recommendations to the City Council regarding the
annexation of additional territory to the City.
