A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING ITS INTENTION
TO APPLY FOR AND OBTAIN GRANT MONEY FROM THE COUNTY OF
ORANGE TO FUND RECYCLING PROGRAMS IN THE CITY.
WHEREAS, THE County of Orange has established the Regional Recycling and
Waste Diversion Grant Program.
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has been allocated up to $30,000 for the
implementation of recycling and waste diversion programs or activities.
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach agrees to use these funds for new or
significantly expanded programs or activities to enhance recycling efforts and divert materials
from Orange County landfills and agrees to all the stated terms and conditions outlined in the
Regional Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program documents.
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach intends to utilize these funds for a household
hazardous collection center operated by the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
recognizes the opportunity the County of Orange has provided through this grant program
and commends the County for its regional leadership in solid waste management, recycling
and waste diversion activities throughout Orange County.

hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council is seven; that the foregoing
resolution, being Resolution No. 2008 -6 was duly and regularly introduced before and adopted by the
City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 22nd
day of January 2008, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote, to wit:
