Victor P. Caliva Trust Donation
This item allows $50,000 to be transferred to the Friends of OASIS from a donation we believe
was intended to go to the Friends instead of the City.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the City Manager to direct the donation from the Victor P. Caliva Trust to the Friends
of OASIS, Inc., and to sign any necessary documents associated with the direction of the
donation.
FUNDING REQUIREMENTS:
No funding is required for this action.
DISCUSSION:
The Friends of OASIS provides financial and volunteer support to the OASIS Senior Center and
its stated goal "is to assist in giving seniors the opportunity to live healthy, active and productive
lives." From all accounts, Mr. Caliva embraced this goal and donated his personal time, energy
and resources towards the betterment of the city's senior community. Based upon Mr. Caliva's
active participation with the Friends of OASIS it is likely that he intended his donation be
directed towards them, rather than the City government. With the City Council's consent, staff
will contact the trustee for the Victor P. Caliva Trust and direct the donation to the Friends of
OASIS, Inc.

Staff recommends the City Council find this action is not subject to the California Environmental
Quality Act ( "CEQA ") pursuant to Sections 15060(c)(2) (the activity will not result in a direct or
reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment) and 15060(c)(3) (the
activity is not a project as defined in Section 15378) of the CEQA Guidelines, California Code of
Regulations, Title 14, Chapter 3, because it has no potential for resulting in physical change to
the environment, directly or indirectly.
NOTICING:
This agenda item has been noticed according to the Brown Act (72 hours in advance of the
meeting at which the City Council considers this item).
