BOX 826, BALBOA, CALIFORNIA 92661 August 12, 2014 Dear Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council, I am writing on behalf of the Balboa Peninsula Point Association regarding the revisioning concept for the Balboa Performing Arts Theatre. We enthusiastically support the City of Newport Beach in a new plan for utilizing the property at 707 E. Balboa Blvd for the implementation of community art, art education and community recreational classes. Our community would greatly benefit from a local community center for residents and non - residents on the Balboa Peninsula. The closest facility of this kind is the Carroll Beek Community Center on Balboa Island, which is very limiting due to the small size. A community center would also benefit Newport Elementary, Newport Beach Junior Lifeguards, ExplorOcean, Balboa Village businesses, local associations, etc. Balboa Village has been an ugly eye sore for many years and we hope the City of Newport Beach embraces the property 707 E. Balboa Blvd in the first large scale improvement to the Balboa Village. Sincerely, Alison Ryffel BPPA President BVT Board Member
