That the City Council cancel the regularly scheduled meeting of October 11, 1999
in order to attend the annual League of California Cities Conference and also
attend the installation of Councilmember Jan Debay as President of the Orange
County League Division.
BACKGROUND
This year's annual League of California Cities Conference will be held from
Sunday, October 10th through October 12th in San Jose. On Monday, October
11th, Jan Debay will be installed as President of the Orange County Division.
The installation will take place at 6:30 P.M. as a part of the reception for the new
Division officers from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Hyatt St. Claire, which is
across from the Convention Center. The Council should be receiving their
registration packets in the mail within the next month and are encouraged to
make reservations as soon as possible as rooms near the Convention Center are
limited.
Since it is an honor for Newport Beach to provide the President of the League
Division, it would be appropriate to cancel the regularly scheduled Council
Meeting, attend the League Conference and participate in Jan Debay's
installation.
