SUBJECT: UNSCHEDULED VACANCY ON THE PARKS, BEACHES AND
RECREATION COMMISSION
RECOMMENDATION
Confirm the nominations as presented by the Ad Hoc Appointments Committee to fill
the unscheduled vacancy as a result of the resignation of Robin Sinclair and schedule
the appointment to be made on April 25, 2000. As approved by the Council on January
25, 2000, the successful applicant will be appointed to fill the balance of the unexpired
term, plus one full term (term expiring on June 30, 2004).
BACKGROUND
At the Regular Meeting of January 25, 2000 the City Council accepted the resignation of
Robin Sinclair from the Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission effective
immediately and directed the City Clerk to advertise the vacancy pursuant to Council
Policy A -2. Mayor Pro Tern Adams and Council Members Thomson and Glover were
appointed as the Ad Hoc Appointments Committee. In response to the advertisements
that were placed in The Daily Pilot and responses to phone calls to the applicants with
current applications on file, the City Clerk's office forwarded six (6) applications to the
Ad Hoc Appointments Committee for their review. The deadline to apply was
Thursday, February 17, 2000.
