SUBJECT: LEGAL PUBLICATIONS FOR ONE -YEAR CONTRACT COVERING
FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2000 TO JUNE 30, 2001.
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the City Clerk to publish a notice advertising for bids to be received on or
before the hour of 4:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 15, 2000 for a one -year contract covering
the publishing and printing of legal notices, or other material required to be published
and circulated in the City of Newport Beach.
BACKGROUND
Pursuant to Section 419 of the City Charter, it is required that the City Council, prior to
the beginning of each fiscal year, publish a notice inviting bids and contract for the
publication of all legal notices or other matter required to be published in a newspaper
of general circulation in said City.
Copies of the "Notice Inviting Bids" will be mailed to all newspapers of general
circulation published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach.
The current contract that expires on June 30, 2000 is with The Daily Pilot. In 1999 they
were awarded a one -year contract at the following rate:
FY 1999 -00 - $9.50 per column inch
After receiving and reviewing the bids, the City Clerk will make a recommendation to
award the contract at the Council meeting of June 27, 2000.

NOTICE INVITING BIDS to be received on, or before the hour of 4:00 p.m. on
Thursday, June 15, 2000, for a one -year contract covering the publishing and
printing of legal notices, or other material required to be published in a newspaper
of general circulation published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach for
Fiscal Year 2000 -01 (July 1, 2000 - June 30, 2001).
