Re: Presentation of $102,100 Check from Newport Beach Public
Library Foundation
The Board of Library Trustees is very pleased that Larry Spitz, President,
Newport Beach Public Library Foundation will present a check in the
amount of $102,100 to the Newport Beach Public Library at the January
9, 2001 City Council meeting.
The funds will be used for improvement of technology for youth; a
digital microfilm scanner printing system; and replacement of 23 public
computers used for accessing the library's catalog and database system.
The Library Board is very pleased for the assistance of the Newport
Beach Public Library to enhance the quality of library service.

Dear Darlene:
I am pleased to present a check in the amount of $102,100 to the Newport
Beach Public Library today from the Newport Beach Public Library
Foundation. Of the total amount, $100,000 represents funding for the
request list submitted to the Foundation for the fiscal year 00 /01. The
remaining funds are intended to support the following library
enhancements per the donors' restrictions placed on their gifts:
Acquisition of books - $100
Acquisition of audiobooks - $1,000
Balboa Branch support - $1,000
With regard to the $1000 gifts for audiobooks and the Balboa Branch, it
would be helpful if we could report back to the donors and let them know
what was purchased. The Foundation is very pleased to provide these
funds to support the Newport Beach Public Librarv. Thank you for all
your good work.
