Re: Budget Amendment
The Reiber funds in the amount of $47,951.43 were given as a bequest in 1995 from
the estate of Roy Raymond Reiber, a former Costa Mesa resident. Mr. Reiber used the
Balboa Branch often. Although he had no children, he indicated that the bequest was
to be used to enhance the children's programs at the Balboa Branch Library.
Annually, with the exception of one year, amounts of $6,000 to $10,000 have been
appropriated to use for activities, materials, and equipment to enhance children's
services at the Balboa Branch.
Please approve a budget amendment to appropriate these funds to the following
expenditure accounts:

Purchase 3M Book Security System
The security system is an anti -theft detection
system that prevent library materials from being
taken out of the building without going through
the check -out process. The system consists of
pass -thru gates to be installed at the entrance of
the building and the electronic device, which
detects active magnetic strips in the books and
videos.
