SUBJECT: BALBOA YACHT BASIN OFFICE REMODEL -CONTRACT NO. 3391
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Approve the plans and specifications.
2. Award Contract No. 3391 to LTG Construction for the Total Bid Price of $42,725,
and authorize the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the contract.
3. Establish an amount of $4,275 to cover the cost of unforeseen work.
4. Approve a budget amendment appropriating $17,000 from the Tidelands Fund
into Account No. 7231- C2370574.
DISCUSSION:
At 11:00 A.M on April 13, 2001, the City Clerk opened and read the following bids for
this project:

2 AJ Construction Enterprises 58,888.00
3 Meridian Pacific Construction 61,000.00
4 Lacy Construction 68,434.00
The low total bid amount is 5 percent below the Engineer's Estimate of $45,000. The
low bidder, LTG Construction, possesses a General Building B contractor's license as
required by the project specifications. LTG has satisfactorily completed similar
remodeling projects for the City.
This project provides for remodeling 3 of the 44 storage garages at Balboa Yacht Basin
into a 600 - square foot office. The office will then be leased to Heritage Yacht

Brokerage (HYB). HYB will vacate its present yacht basin office space to provide office
space for personnel of the newly- formed Harbor Resources Department. This
rearrangement will permit a yacht brokerage to remain at Balboa Yacht Basin, as has
been the case for at least 40 years.
Funds to award the contract and provide for unforeseen work are available in the
following account:
