HomeMy WebLinkAbout10 - California Highway Patrol TrainingAgenda Item # io CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT June 26, 2001 TO: Honorable Mayor, Members of the City Council and City Manager From: Bob McDonell, Chief of Police Subject: Resolution for California Highway Patrol Training RECOMMENDATION: Approve the attached Resolution granting authority to the Chief of Police to sign training agreements with the California Highway Patrol. BACKGROUND: The California Highway Patrol (CHP) offers training courses to peace officers throughout the State of California. A requirement for each agency sending officers to the training is a resolution from the City Council authorizing the Chief of Police to sign training agreements on behalf of the City. Currently the Department has applied to send an officer to a Commercial Enforcement class offered by the CHP, necessitating the updated agreement with the State agency. Respectfully submitted, Bob McDonell CHIEF OF POLICE Resolution No. 2001- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS BETWEEN THE NEWPORT BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AND THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA'S DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL WHEREAS, the State of California Department of California Highway Patrol requires written agreements from any agency participating in training programs; and WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Police Department for the City of Newport Beach desires from time to time to participate in certain training programs sponsored and administered by the Department of California Highway Patrol. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of Newport Beach that the Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to sign such training agreements. ADOPTED this day of , 2001.
