DISCUSSION:
On July 24, 2001, the City Council authorized the award of the San Miguel Drive
Pavement Rehabilitation contract to All American Asphalt of Corona, California. The
contract provided for the removal and replacement of deteriorated sidewalk, curb access
ramps, curb and gutter, and the construction of new rubberized asphalt pavement. This
project was approved by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and
Caltrans for Federal funds through the Arterial Highway Rehabilitation Program (AHRP).
The contract has now been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department.
A summary of the contract cost is as follows:
Original bid amount: $715,051.18
Actual amount of bid items constructed: 549,770.26
Total amount of change orders: 0.00
Final contract cost: $549,770.26
The decrease in the amount of actual bid items constructed below the original bid
amount resulted from the decreased quantity of digout areas requiring AC structural
replacement. The final overall construction cost including change orders was 23.1
percent under the original bid amount.
No change orders were written for the project.
