HomeMy WebLinkAboutP1 - National Library Week ProclamationWHEREAS, libraries play a vital role in connecting people with resources they need to live, learn, work and thrive in the 21" century; and WHEREAS, libraries are just as important a part of our community infrastructure as roads, bridges and buildings; and WHEREAS, libraries bring us the wodd. Nowhere else do we have access to nearly anything on the Web or in print, as well as assistance in finding it; and WHEREAS, we must ensure our libraries have a future with sustained funding and support; and WHEREAS, libraries are a cornerstone of democracy, helping us rediscover America through such materials as those in the American History Collection at our Central Library. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Tod W. Ridgeway, Mayor of the City of Newport Beach, hereby proclaim April 14 -20, 2002, as NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK REDISCOVER AMERICA @ YOUR LIBRARY and encourage all residents to support and use their library to enrich their lives and discover the wealth of resources available at the library.
